Pexmas Panel
Meet our Panel Members
-
Ben and Rhi, COOTS
We are COOTS London (aka Crawled Out of the Sea) - an independent performance swimwear brand. Our collections are expertly crafted in a zero-waste factory in East London. Each suit is inspired by the art of swimming and constructed from a regenerated nylon (ECONYL®) made from rescued waste that would otherwise pollute our Earth and Oceans.
We (Ben and Rhi) always swim together and we founded COOTS in 2021 as a reaction to not being able to find sustainable swimwear that swam well but didn't compromise on design. It was also very important to us that our suits were made locally and are super proud to make all our items in London.
Pexmas was the very first market we sold at and has been our favourite ever since. There's always such a good vibe from the market goers and stall holders alike and we are excited to be part of the panel and Pexmas' journey.

Tash Gorst, Gather
Tash is an ecopreneur on a mission to tackle eco-overwhelm and help people live lower-impact. Prompted by having a kid and fretting about the planet, she set up Gather, Peckham’s organic refillery, in July 2019. It’s a one-stop ‘zero waste’ store, offering over 200 products on refill and a huge range of easy eco swaps for the home and on-the-go. And it’s more: Gather hosts eco events, and its online platforms inspire change by sharing low-waste tips, tools and recommendations.
Tash's excited to be on the panel because of what Pexmas stands for: community, small business, mindful shopping. All things at the heart of Gather, too.

Elisabeth Buecher, Fleur de Trésor
Originally a textile designer trained at Central St Martins, I have been designing unique pieces of jewelry hand-made with real local flowers for the past two years. Most of my flowers are collected in local parks and friends' gardens around South London and pressed at my workshop in Peckham. During lockdown, I realised that there were beautiful wildflowers thriving just on my doorstep if I took the time to look. My designs celebrate sustainability, local flora and community parks and gardens. I am very excited to be on the panel because Pexmas was the first ever significant organisation to give me my chance as a designer when they enabled me to trade at their very sought-after Christmas market last year. Moreover, I absolutely love living in SE London and Pexmas is a great contributor to the life of the local community. I would love to help them make the area become even more thriving and creative!

Tessa, The Stationer
I've been running The Stationer since 2016, selling a curation of the world's best stationery and other wares for your desk. As a lifelong stationery obsessive, and after a few years spent writing a very nerdy blog about it, I decided my next move would be to create my own online shop introducing my customers to brands that I know and love (I particularly like championing other small businesses) and have also started designing, making and selling my own goods too.
I am excited to be on the Pexmas panel as I have been taking part in it since 2018 and it is by far my favourite market every year. I hope I can have some input into shaping what happens next for it!

Rose Gardner, Studio Eris
Rose is the designer and maker behind Studio Eris - a handmade statement accessories brand inspired by travel, modernist design, and mythology.
The antithesis of fast fashion, Rose's pieces are considered, slow-crafted objects made to be treasured.
Before launching Eris, Rose trained in costume and theatre design and worked for several years in film, before finding herself somewhat lost in the corporate world. After quitting her job four years ago to pursue her creative passions, she fell in love with clay and jewellery design, and launched Eris in May 2019. Eris is the goddess of chaos - so named because she believes wonderful things can come from uncertainty - if you embrace it!
Rose is passionate about craft, sustainability, and community - and loves being part of the Pexmas panel - it's the best market ever!

Natasha Pencil, Taino
Hi, my name's Natasha and I am so excited to be a part of the Pexmas panel because it's my favourite market and jewel in the crown of Christmas season for me. I launched my business at Pexmas and I'm so very grateful that they took a chance on me and my small business. I now want to do everything in my power to ensure that Pexmas continues to go from strength to strength and support the small, local business economy as we need it more than ever!
Taino handmake condiments such as pickles, chutneys, spreads and sauces based on recipes from across the Caribbean.
The Taino people were the first indigenous Amerindians to populate many of the Caribbean islands. The aim of this venture is to celebrate the vibrant flavours whilst honouring the cultural heritage and history of Caribbean cuisine in a fun and modern way.
These sweet, savoury and spicy condiments are homemade in London using as much locally sourced produce as possible. They are also naturally vegan, gluten and nut-free so everyone can tuck in and enjoy them whatever your dietary dietary needs are. They can be used to jazz up your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks or used as a marinate.
What does the Panel do?
This amazing group of small business owners represents the general mix of talent at our markets, both as people and businesses. They are all at different stages on their business journeys; some have premises, some operate mainly online, some take commissions and some are almost entirely focused on markets for sales. We meet up online and discuss issues facing small businesses, especially at markets, and consider how we as Pexmas can do more to support all small businesses at events or in their own learning. The Panel help us make Pexmas events better, help us to choose where to put our focus, and they hold us accountable for our decisions. In return, we give them a small discount on our independently led markets and small business events, and an open door to chat and bounce ideas around for their own businesses. This is a reciprocal relationship and one we value so much.
